Where Do My Kids Go...
|
|
We are blessed with a dedicated volunteer staff that will share the Word of God with your child(ren) in a caring and loving setting.
When your kids are cared for, that allows you to relax and focus on worship and Bible study. All of our Children’s Ministry workers
have been processed through our Child Abuse Prevention Policy (CAPP). There is also a yearly mandatory CAPP review for all Children’s ministry workers.
If you looked at our general information about the Church, then you know we have two service times on Sunday mornings.
Our first service begins at 9:30 and our second service starts at 11:00.
Nursery (ages 0-2) - Our nursery is divided between infants and toddlers. Please sign in your child and give the workers
any specific instructions they may need. You will be assigned a pager in case you are needed. Your pager number is matched to your child.
Our nursery is open for all of our regularly scheduled services.
Preschool (ages 2-5) - We provide a fun and safe environment for preschoolers. Our preschool is divided into age and
developmentally appropriate classes. Our classrooms are equipped with toys, personal cubbies and have beautiful murals
that make the walls come alive! All classes have playtime, lessons, crafts, snacks and a variety of activities.
Again, care is taken to provide each group with experiences that are right for their age, abilities and attention span.
While both class hours include all the above elements, the first hour classes (9:30) concentrate more on the formal lesson
and the second hour classes (11:00) use a variety of learning activities to review the lesson. Our 2’s & 3’s classes
have their very own story room and enclosed seasonal play structure!
Primary Church (grades 1-3) - Elementary aged children in grades 1-3 meet in the Fireside Room 1st hour at 9:30.
In Primary Church, the children worship through prayer, song, and a practical lesson from the Word of God. Our teachers and leaders
motivate the young people to know and love God. The kids also have fun as they play review games and have other activities.
Everything is geared for their age.
Jr. Worship Hour (grades 4-6) - Our upper elementary young people meet at 9:30 in the Choir Room for Junior Worship Hour (JWH).
This hour more closely resembles our Adult Worship Service but engages their hearts and minds at their own level.
In JWH the young people learn about the Lord and what it means to worship Him in a meaningful way. They worship through special music and songs,
giving an offering, and a Bible message directed toward where they live. JWH is designed to prepare young people for the adult worship service.
Sunday School (grades 1-6) - Our elementary students begin the 11:00 hour in their Children’s Church locations (see above).
They start the hour with a short Sunday School opening where they sing, share birthdays, and give announcements. The students then go
to their individual Sunday School classrooms. Every grade has a separate classroom and teacher. The Sunday School hour is a more interactive
time with the emphasis on educating our students in the Scriptures and helping them practically apply God’s truths to their lives.
As with all of our children’s ministries, our curriculum is age-appropriate.

What are the Worship Services Like...
|
|
At each service at FBCR, you will discover a blend of new and old that prepares our hearts for
a family friendly worship experience. You will enjoy singing new choruses as well as beloved hymns
as we lift our voices in praise to our God. Each of our services features a variety of musical styles
that allow us to honor our King. We are blessed at FBCR to have many talented musicians
who not only lead us in worship, but also minister to us with uplifting vocal and instrumental selections.
The preaching of the Word of God is a priority at FBCR. Our senior Pastor not only helps us understand
what God’s Word says, but also how we are to apply it to our lives. We are regularly encouraged
to take our next spiritual step as we grow together in our Lord.
We encourage you to come and experience an exciting, uplifting time of Praise and Worship
as we seek to bring honor and glory to our King.

What Do I Wear...
|
|
No matter what your personal style, you’ll be comfortable at First Baptist of Rochester.
If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you
no matter when you visit. Sure, Sunday mornings are a time when many prefer to dress up a bit,
but even if jeans are more your style, you’ll be right at home with us. Naturally, Sunday and Wednesday evenings
are slightly more casual than Sunday morning, but dress up for these if you prefer.
Preschoolers and children learn while they play. We encourage hands on play so that children are learning
through all their senses. Painting and other "messy" activities are also encouraged, so use your own judgement
about how dressed up your child is while at church.
Our Middle and High School Students usually dress casually on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.
Wednesday evenings is our special Student ministry night and many times our students are involved in
"activities with a purpose". These are designed to help them grow in "wisdom, stature and favor with God and man".

What Else Happens on Sundays...
|
First Baptist of Rochester has activities and events designed for all ages. Our Sunday School program
is designed to help you "plug into" FBCR and offers a myriad of classes covering many interesting subject matters.
You would enjoy the intimacy of our Sunday School classes as you interact with those who have some of the same cares and concerns.
Our Sunday at Six Service is in interactive time of Bible study and learning. We have a great time studying the Bible together
and growing in the Lord. We also offer an AWANA Program on Sundays beginning at 5:45 and ending at 7:30.
This "club" program is designed for ages 3 through High School and features times of Bible memorization, Games, and Bible lessons.
We would encourage you to bring your whole family to share in our Sunday at Six and AWANA program.
On the fourth Sunday of each month, we have a ministry team that shares at the Sanctuary at Bellbrook Retirement Community.
This ministry allows people of all ages the opportunity to invest in the lives of some very special people.
We also have periodic concerts, family life seminars, mission presentations as well as fellowship times that allow us
to interact as a church family. We would invite you to come and be a part of any of these exciting times of Spiritual Growth.
Visit our Church Calendar for a current listing of activities.

What Else Happens on Other Days...
|
During the week you will discover many opportunities for growth and involvement.
Wednesdays are very busy at FBCR. This is a special time of refreshment midweek
as we gather together for Prayer and Bible Study. Wednesday is also a focal point
of our Student Ministry. Pastor Mark Thompson leads our Teens in Bible Study growth groups
and various activities that help them mature in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our younger children are also involved in ministry on Wednesdays. Whether they are rehearsing
for an upcoming musical, learning about scripture in a Precept Bible Study, or practicing
hand bells or chimes, our children are very involved during our Wednesday evening ministry.
Wednesday is also the night that our Voices of Praise - Adult choir - rehearses.
Under the direction of Pastor Rob Laing, our adults prepare their voices to lead us in worship.
Wednesday is a great day of ministry at FBCR.
Thursdays at FBCR offer many opportunities for personal Bible Study and growth.
Men meet for encouragement and discipleship at 6:30am. Our Pastor leads this time of growth and study.
Ladies meet Thursday mornings for a Bible Study. They have a great time as they share and study
a variety of topics together. Pastor Scott, our Minister of Christian Education and Discipleship,
leads our Thursday evening Precept Bible study. Thursdays are a great time to study God’s Word at FBCR.
Most Saturday mornings our men and boys meet for a time of exercise in our gym.
These "pick up" basketball games provide a great time of fellowship.
There are many other activities at FBCR. Please check the calendar to discover the many areas
where you can be involved as we serve and share together.
